The Dyson sphere sounds farfetched considering the size of a star relative to most planets. The sheer architecture requirements seems unreasonable as to envelope a star. If a civilization is strapped for energy how will they get the energy and resources to build the sphere in the first place. Dyson spheres seem way too ambitious. It's way more likely that once you achieve stable fusion, after mastering fission, that's the optimal energy source, unless someone masters the vacuum latent energy

As a scientist, I am really bothered by the way the term "nothingness" is tossed about in this article. Initially the author implicitly seems to define "nothing" in the sense that "the void" has no reified matter in it. It is a sloppy use of a word that a very precise definition: a state of being nothing; such as nonexistence. (Although, somewhat later when discussing the Casmir effect, the point is made that there is, after all, "not nothing" in the void.) It seems pretty clear that "something" is existing in what would be termed "the void". The article would have been better without the inaccurate references here and there that nothing creates something.

Nothing exist, simply because the word nothing exists. As science can not be used to disprove anything. (Absense of proof, is not proof of absense). And it is scientifically impossible to prove something, if it does not exist. (Proof requires evidence, and nothing leaves none behind).

On matter being somewhat evenly distributed at large scales, this could actually still be true, the observable universe is just the area of the universe we can detect, we have no idea how much larger the universe actually is. The massive voids could turn out to be statistically insignificant compared to the true size of the universe
